James is the Senior Vice President of Planning & Development at PBA Group of Companies, based in Calgary. James oversees all stages of new project development, municipal and community relations, and strategic planning for asset development and positioning.

At PBA Group, projects include work on the Dorian hotel, and leading master planning, regulatory approvals, and market positioning for a 550-acre new community in Cochrane. During his more than 30 years’ experience in various aspects of the land and property development industry, James has contributed to many volunteer positions, including committee chair at UDI / BILD, where he served for over 15 years in several positions, two terms as Commissioner on the Calgary Planning Commission, and is currently serving a second two-year term as a Member of the Calgary Subdivision and Development Appeal Board.

Previous experience includes discipline lead of urban planning and design for the Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria offices of Stantec, and manager of planning, regulatory and community relations for the Three Sisters Mountain Village resort community project in Canmore.

James holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and a Master of City Planning from the University of Manitoba. James is an avid cyclist and cross-country skier, and enjoys spending quality outdoor time year-round in Calgary and the mountain parks.
