Destination Marketing Fund (DMF)
Since 2005, the Calgary Hotel Associations' Destination Marketing Fund (DMF) (supported by 60 participating hotels contributing 6% of gross room revenue) has invested over $150 million to market Calgary and attract visitors.
Most DMF funding supports Tourism Calgary with additional investments in cultural events, festivals, and destination-building initiatives. These efforts fuel year-round tourism, support more that 7,000 local jobs, and generate at least $69 in local spending for every $1 invested for Meetings and Conferences and an ROI ~$39:1 on investments in Sports and Major Events.
In 2025, the CHA and Calgary Economic Development partnered to advance Calgary’s Creative Industries, including Film & Television and Digital Media Entertainment (DME), successfully launching FAM tours and scouting activities that introduced the city to national and international film and television decision-makers.
By funding high-impact events and also collaborating with the government on issues such as infrastructure, and destination competitiveness, the DMF continues to strengthen Calgary's reputation, grow the visitor economy, and expand opportunities for CHA members.
