The mission of the Calgary Hotel Association (CHA) is to support our membership by stewarding communication and awareness-building programs, engaging in advocacy, and cultivating meaningful partnerships.

Peggy Athans has been the Calgary Hotel Association Executive Director as of June of 2017. Her role focuses on advocacy, education and collaboration with industry stakeholders.

Peggy has over 20 years’ experience leading both business and not-for-profit operations. For four and a half years she was Executive Director of the British Columbia Wine Institute (BCWI) where she guided the transition of the BCWI from a mandatory institution to a voluntary trade association representing 95% of the wine production in BC. She played a key role in the creation of the British Columbia Wine Authority and successfully lobbied government to enact policies and create a better business climate for the BC wine industry.
For 6 years Peggy was the Executive Director of the Downtown Kelowna Association representing 1200 businesses and property owners. With her knowledge of destination marketing she rebranded the Downtown Kelowna brand and increased visitation.
Peggy’s professional background makes her the perfect candidate to lead the Calgary Hotel Association in achieving its vision of becoming the most effective and respected voice for the hotel industry in Alberta.
