Leanne Shaw-Brotherston Assumes Role of CHA Chairman

The Calgary Hotel Association (CHA) is pleased to announce that following its annual general meeting, it has elected Leanne Shaw-Brotherston, general manager at the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, as its chairman.

“I am very excited to take on the role of chairman for the CHA Board and continue to build on the great foundation that has been laid by past chairs,” said Ms. Shaw-Brotherston. “Over the last few years the CHA has developed and grown partnerships throughout the city that increase Calgary’s image as a world-class destination. I look forward to making these partnerships even stronger and forging new ones."

Joining Ms. Shaw-Brotherston on the CHA Board is Gord Minor, general manager at the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire, who has been elected as vice-chairman, Karim Ismail, general manager at the Coast Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre, who has been elected as treasurer and chair of the Audit & Finance Committee and Dan McGowan, general manager at The Fairmont Palliser, who has been elected as chair of the DMF Committee.

Continuing to serve on the CHA board is outgoing president Joseph Clohessy, general manager at the Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel.

“The past three years serving as president have been extremely gratifying. I am very proud of what our organization has accomplished and the results we have delivered for our members,” said Mr. Clohessy. “I look forward to continuing to work with the CHA Board and helping to deliver outstanding results to our members.”
